Summary of the visit – London 2019 Tweet Last week Short Clinical Visit was held on 28-30th of May in Hammersmith Hospital, London, UK. Being not only one of the major clinical bases for Imperial College, the Acton site hospital also hosts the ESGO certified center in advanced ovarian cancer surgery. Every day of SCV was full with ward runs, perfect and beautiful surgery, accompanied by didactic lectures, visits to clinical sciences center of the Medical Research and ultrasound department. We were lucky to meet Professor Christina Fotopoulou and wonderful team of UK leading clinicians with expertise in the management of gynaecological oncology. We have enjoyed extensive radical techniques for advanced and recurrent ovarian cancer, radical abdominal trachelectomy in invasive cervical cancer, laparoscopic cancer surgery as well as some minor surgical procedures performed by UK Gyn/Onco team. Dr. Paula Cunea showed us laboratory facilities in the Institute of Reproductive and Developmental Biology (IRDB), one of the top level World laboratory with the main focus on translation science research in ovarian cancer. Amazing linking between clinical departments and translation research laboratory have left a lot of impressions and thoughts about new perspective in research and care, so their modern approaches and progressive input to research could lead to better patient outcomes and experiences. Special thanks to Dr. Kostas Lathouras, Dr. Srdjan Saso, Dr. Margharita Rossi and all stuff for the wonderful time, perfect atmosphere and for the fantastic social program.
